FAQ

Common questions.

What services does Skyline Ledger offer? +
Skyline offers three core service areas: bookkeeping and accounting (ongoing books, reconciliation, payroll, financial statements), tax planning and preparation support (year-round planning, estimated taxes, entity return workpapers, K-1 allocations), and fractional CFO services (cash flow forecasting, investor reporting, loan packages, strategic financial guidance). Every engagement is custom — you get exactly what your business needs.
Are you a CPA or EA? +
Skyline Ledger holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting with 7+ years of focused experience. We are not a licensed CPA or EA, which means we do not sign or file entity tax returns, and we cannot represent clients before the IRS. For tax preparation engagements, we prepare all workpapers, schedules, and supporting documents and coordinate directly with your signing CPA. Clients who do not have a CPA — we can help connect you with one.
Do you work with clients outside of Seattle? +
Yes — Skyline is a remote-first firm and serves clients across the entire United States. Everything is handled virtually through secure shared tools, email, and video calls. Being remote-first means we're built for it, not just accommodating it.
What does "custom services" actually mean — do you have packages? +
No fixed packages. Every engagement starts with a discovery call where we learn about your business — your volume, your goals, your gaps. From there we design a scope of work specifically around what you need. You pay for the services you use, not a bundle that includes things that don't apply to you.
Do you handle payroll? +
Yes. Payroll management is available as part of a bookkeeping engagement. We work through platforms like Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll, handle the processing and reconciliation, and ensure your books reflect payroll accurately. Payroll tax filing is managed through the platform or coordinated with your CPA depending on complexity.
What industries do you work with? +
Skyline works with businesses across industries — from service businesses and e-commerce to startups and multi-entity operating companies. We have deep specialization in real estate, including agents, investors, developers, and portfolio owners. If you're a business owner or investor with ongoing financial activity, we can likely help.
What is fractional CFO service and do I need it? +
A fractional CFO provides senior financial leadership on a part-time or as-needed basis. It's the right fit if you're making significant capital decisions, preparing for lender or investor conversations, building out financial forecasts, or simply need someone to think strategically about your financial position — without the cost of a full-time hire. We'll tell you honestly on a discovery call if it's the right level of service for where your business is right now.
My books are behind or a mess. Is that okay? +
That's one of the most common reasons clients come to us. We'll assess where things stand, complete a cleanup if needed (quoted separately), and get your books organized before transitioning to ongoing service. Behind books are a starting point, not a dealbreaker.
Do you post prices on your website? +
No — and intentionally. Because every engagement is custom, a published price would either overcharge simpler clients or undercharge complex ones. Pricing is discussed during the discovery call once we understand your scope. What we can tell you: it's competitive, transparent, and tied directly to what you're getting.
How do I get started? +
Take the "Are We a Fit?" quiz on the home page, or click "Get in Touch" to book a discovery call directly through our scheduling form. The discovery call is a no-commitment conversation — we'll learn about your business and tell you honestly whether and how Skyline can help.
